HEMA POWER TAKE-OFFS: Technical FAQ

High-performance power transmission for Hema gearboxes requires precision engineering. The Hayneks OA Series is a premium line of HEMA POWER TAKE-OFFS, designed to integrate seamlessly with Ford, BMC, and Iveco trucks utilizing Hema 5400 and 5200 transmissions. Explore our technical guide below.
1. What distinguishes Hayneks HEMA POWER TAKE-OFFS?

The HEMA POWER TAKE-OFFS in our OA Series are built with high-torque capacity and heavy-duty cast iron housings. They are specifically optimized for the gear geometry of Hema transmissions to provide maximum reliability under extreme pressure.

2. Which Hema gearboxes are compatible with this series?

This series is fully compatible with Hema 5400, 5200, and 5000 models. Due to the precision required, we recommend verifying the gearbox model from the chassis identification plate before final installation.

3. What are the torque ratings for the Hema OA series?

Our units are designed for industrial versatility, with torque capacities ranging from 300 Nm to 500 Nm. This ensures they can power everything from standard delivery tippers to specialized vacuum waste systems.

4. Is the engagement system pneumatic or mechanical?

To prioritize operator safety and transmission life, we utilize Pneumatic Engagement as the primary standard. This allows for a smooth, air-shifted engagement from the cabin, reducing mechanical shock to the drivetrain.

5. Can I mount a hydraulic pump directly to the PTO?

Yes. All Hayneks Hema PTOs support Direct-Mount configurations for ISO 4-bolt or UNI 3-bolt hydraulic pumps. This eliminates the need for cardan shafts, reducing potential vibration points and power loss.

6. Why is gear ratio critical when selecting a Hema PTO?

The Gear Ratio determines the output speed of the pump. An optimized ratio allows the hydraulic system to reach its peak flow rate at lower engine RPMs, saving fuel and preventing pump cavitation or overheating.

7. In which industries are these Hema PTO units used?

These units are widely used in Construction, Logistics, and Infrastructure. They provide the power for tipper bodies, recovery winches, and municipal collectors on heavy-duty truck chassis.

8. How do I prevent noise and premature wear?

Prevention relies on Backlash Adjustment. Setting the correct gap between the PTO and transmission gears using our included gaskets is the single most important step to prevent 'gear whining' and tooth damage.

9. Are the installation components included in the box?

Yes, every Hayneks unit includes a complete Mounting Kit. This includes high-strength studs, nuts, and a variety of gaskets to ensure a leak-proof and perfectly aligned installation.

10. Can these units handle continuous heavy-duty use?

While designed for extreme durability, transmission-mounted PTOs are primarily for intermittent use. For Heavy-Duty continuous operations, we recommend ensuring your hydraulic system has adequate oil cooling to protect the transmission life.
